Married to the Sea Cartoon

I am pretty sure that the folks who create Married to the Sea comics were completely unaware of the current America's Cup legal battle when they used Ernesto as a name in the cartoon above.

On a slight tangent, I've been trying to figure out how much I like or dislike professionalism and money in sailing. It's rather inevitable, I guess, but too much money being thrown around in too much of an ugly way.

One item that struck me about how far we've gone down the commercial path was a news brief in a sailing magazine. The report listed match racing teams and how much money they won in each of several regattas. I'm not quite sure why, but I had a definite negative reaction.

I also tried to write up my ideal of a sailing or yacht club in the post, http://desertsea.blogspot.com/2007/12/how-corinthian-is-your-yacht-club.html It's too darn wordy, but says a lot about my prejudices and thoughts on commercialism and pretension on the water. Will I ever find the AAA+ "Shining beacon of sailing" club? Probably not. I'd settle for a "B" club.

Could there be a better way to write on this topic? My answer is of course NO. You are great my friend…just continue doing this stuff and soon you would be a well-known name on the net.
